The ICC Cricket World Cup is the international championship of One Day International (ODI) cricket. Every four years, the event is organized by the sport's governing body, the International Cricket Council (ICC).
The inaugural Cricket World Cup was hosted in 1975 by England, The first three events were held in England and officially known as the Prudential World Cup (1975–1983).

The games were reduced from 60 to 50 overs per innings, the current standard, because of the shorter daylight hours in the Indian subcontinent compared with England's summer.

The 2023 Cricket World Cup (officially ICC Cricket World Cup 2023) will be the 13th edition of the Cricket World Cup, scheduled to be hosted by India, from 9 February to 26 March 2023.
